About the Preserve
For the past seven years, Two Rivers has been intensely managed as a private hunting and fishing preserve. The terrain is rolling pineland, with wire grass, briars, and broom sedge cover that slope down to a three-mile border on the Saunders Slough arm of Lake Seminole. Cover patches for quail, food plots for deer, and chuffa patches for turkey are scattered throughout the property and a "greentree reservoir" is surrounded by planted corn and flooded for duck hunting.
The property has seven fishable ponds, including Clearwater Lake (38 acres), which is located across SR 39 from the main body of the property. A large boat basin is connected by a canal to the Corps of Engineers' maintained channel in Saunders Slough, which leads directly to Lake Seminole and the Chattahoochee, Flint, and Apalachicola Rivers.
Just across Saunders Slough are several thousand acres of Georgia Wildlife Management Area (WMA), which serve as a bedding, roosting, and refuge area for the deer and turkey that are attracted to Two Rivers by the food plots we plant. For the young in spirit, the WMA provides thousands of acres of additional hunting during the regular seasons.
A fully furnished mobile home on the property that sleeps seven in bunk beds is available to guests for overnight accommodations or for use during the day at extremely low rates. In addition, other relatively inexpensive public and private lodging facilities are close to Two Rivers.
Two Rivers is the premier quail hunting plantation in a three plantation group known as TRIFECTA PROPERTIES - all under common ownership and management and each one a winner in whatever order you enjoy them. The other properties described below are the FARM and COVEY ROOST.
The Farm is the owner's personal hunting, fishing and farming retreat located between Bainbridge and Cairo just six miles north of U.S. 84 on State Road 262 in Decatur County, Georgia. It contains 500+ acres of rolling natural growth pinelands and with wiregrass, broom sedge and other traditional quail cover. With an eight acre pond that is planted in corn and flooded for duck hunting, the Farm offers great deer, duck, spring gobbler and, of course, quail hunting. Also, the owner's two bedroom, two bath "get away cabin" that comfortably sleeps six is located here and is available for overnight accommodations for guests hunting any of the plantations in the Trifecta Properties group.
At Two Rivers and the Farm, the quail hunt is led by a guide on horseback (or muleback). The hunters either ride horses or ride in a quail buggy that is pulled by mules or a four-wheel drive vehicle, whichever the hunters choose. Between the guide and the driver for the quail buggy, the hunters get a lot of personal attention and they are delivered to the "point" where the dogs have found and are holding the covey with a minimum amount of walking.
The most recent addition to the Trifecta Properties group is Covey Roost which has a long history as a well known quail hunting property from the days when it was owned by the Collins family in Early County, Georgia, and known as the "Pond Place." To provide diversity and highly competitive pricing, Covey Roost offers a more laid back experience. Hunting is conducted from the guides' specially equipped jeeps using the guides' dogs, which results in more walking by the hunters but also more covey finds and a higher kill ratio. The land at Covey Roost is prettier than most other commercial plantations in the area, with rates that can't be beat - $1400 for a full day for a party of four hunters and $950 for a half day. During the noon break before or after your hunt, there is a ten acre stocked pond available for bream and bass fishing.
